Toon target sends timely reminder to Eddie Howe with Monday night wonder goal – Watch here

Back in October last year, The Mail reported that our new owners were keen to make Watford’s Ismaila Sarr the first signing of this exciting new era at St James’ Park.

He didn’t end up signing in January, as he suffered a ligament injury in November that kept him out until February, however the Senegalese winger has been regularly linked over the past few months.

The Chronicle revealed back in May that we’d been scouting the 24-year-old over the 2021/22 season, Jacque Talbot confirmed a meeting between the club and his agent following the Hornets’ relegation and Sky Sports also claimed that he was an alternative to top target Moussa Diaby – who now looks set to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.

Talk of him coming to Tyneside has gone quiet over the past few weeks, however the player himself sent a timely reminder to Eddie Howe of his Premier League quality with a simply stunning goal against Steve Bruce’s West Brom last night.

In the 11th minute, the former Rennes star saw David Button off his line and smashed the ball over the former Brighton man from his own half, scoring an early contender for goal of the season!

He missed a penalty late in the game – which ended 1-1 – but it was a moment of magic from the lightning-fast winger who is believed to be available for around £30m. Watch the wondergoal below:
