£27m Frenchman offered to Newcastle as player’s representatives make contact over move – Report

According to the Evening Standard, Newcastle United have been handed the chance to sign Tanguy Ndombele.

Dan Kilpatrick – the chief correspondent at the London-based paper – reveals that the player’s representatives have been in contact with the club, offering the Frenchman our way after Tottenham made it clear he could leave this summer.

That said, it seems we may opt against a move for the 25-year-old midfielder, with the report stating that Eddie Howe is ‘unconvinced’ by Ndombele.

The midfielder completed a £54m move to Spurs three years ago, however he’s now valued at exactly half that price by Transfermarkt after a difficult few seasons.

He spent last year on loan at former club Lyon and is one of our first-team players currently training away from the main group at Spurs, as the Evening Standard report that Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon are also up for sale.

Ndombele is a huge talent – he is a tricky midfielder with bags of ability and flare – but questions have been raised about his fitness levels and application during his time at Tottenham, which could explain why Howe isn’t sold?
