New Alexander Isak claims emerge as report reveals details of bid for Real Sociedad star

After a quiet few weeks on the Alexander Isak front, some fresh claims have emerged on the highly-rated Swedish striker today.

In his latest piece for The Chronicle, Lee Ryder reports that we submitted an offer in the region of £40m for the Real Sociedad striker last month.

He states that this ‘didn’t suit the La Liga club’, with sources close to the Spaniards insisting it would take ‘closer to £50m’ to land the 22-year-old talent.

If true, this suggests we aren’t a million miles away from reaching Real Sociedad’s asking price, with Lee Ryder revealing that Newcastle are still interested in striking a deal for Isak – who was described as the club’s top attacking target by The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards back in July.

As a young, mobile centre-forward who’s bagged 27 goals in his last two seasons in Spain, it’s easy to see why he remains very much on our radar, with his profile very similar to long-term target Hugo Ekitike.

For all the talk of Goncalo Ramos, a move for Isak may still be one to watch over the final few weeks of the window if we are as close as Ryder suggests to Real Sociedad’s asking price.
