New report names THREE more strikers on Howe’s radar as another Toon target signs elsewhere

The Athletic have released a new piece on Newcastle’s search for attacking talent, revealing three names under consideration after Benjamin Sesko became the latest Toon target to sign elsewhere.

The highly-rated Salzburg man has agreed to join RB Leipzig next summer, with the Bundesliga side winning the race just a few weeks after his agent held talks on Tyneside.

Moving on, Chris Waugh reveals that we’ve also been tracking Sturm Graz star Rasmus Hojilund – another impressive young striker in Austria known for his blend of height (6ft 3′), pace and quality in front of goal.

The 19-year-old is a Danish youth international who has bagged five goals and two assists in six appearances so far this season, scoring in their Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Kyiv on Monday.

The two other strikers named by The Athletic are Atalanta’s Luis Muriel and Marseille’s Bamba Dieng, although it seems the former is someone we’d prefer to sign on loan.

This could be due to Muriel’s age – he is 31 and we already have two strikers over 30 on our books – however the Serie A side prefer to sell now he’s entered the final 12 months of his deal.

Dieng is a familiar name based on the reports we’ve seen over the past week, with the Senegalese international likely to leave after the arrival of former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

As the latest new name linked with a potential move to Tyneside, here’s a few clips of Hojilund in action:
