Over the past few weeks, Bamba Dieng’s name has been mentioned on several occasions in Newcastle United’s hunt for new attacking talent.
The Athletic confirmed yesterday that he was on our radar, while 90min released an ‘exclusive’ on Tuesday claiming we were ‘ready to push on’ with moves for the Marseille star and Lyon’s Lucas Paqueta.
However, according to Sky Sports, Fulham are now in talks with the Senegalese forward over a potential move to Craven Cottage.
Sky reporter Dharmesh Sheth reveals that Marseille are prepared to sell the versatile striker for just €15m, claiming he was ‘offered’ to Newcastle back in January.
The player has two years left on his deal and is one of several players who’ve been given the cold shoulder by new boss Igor Tudor – who looks set to cash in on the 22-year-old after securing the signing of Alexis Sanchez this week.
Dieng can operate up top or out wide and was part of the Senegal squad that won the African Cup of Nations earlier this year.
Perhaps Newcastle feel they can do better than the talented yet relatively unproven striker who bagged eight goals last season – although I suspect we’d be a much bigger pull than Fulham should we up our interest!
Why are we not in talks for Bemba Diang ?
Suggests we don’t really want him, or we are too slow to move in the market!
