Amanda Staveley talks explained after Toon chiefs are spotted at Chelsea – Deals in the offing?

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has explained why Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi were pictured at Stamford Bridge for yesterday’s 2-2 draw between Chelsea and Spurs.

He reveals that Staveley was invited to the game by Blues chief Todd Boehly, revealing that the pair are friends after both spoke at an American economic event back in 2019.

Ornstein – a chief writer at The Athletic and one of the most reliable journalists in the country – reveals that our new co-owners have forced a ‘strong relationship’ with their Chelsea counterparts.

It seems this could benefit the club in the long and short term, with the same piece going on to confirm that we’ve held internal discussions about Armando Broja, Conor Gallagher, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic, also revealing that we tried to sign Timo Werner on loan before he opted to seal a permanent move back to RB Leipzig.

Multiple sources at St James’ Park have told The Athletic that we are ‘at least’ one attacker short of where we want to be, according to our new owners, with The Athletic hinting that this newfound relationship could boost our hopes of sealing ‘mutually beneficial’ loan deals over the coming weeks.

  1. Don’t see why Chelsea would do us any favours considering we are likely candidates to steal a European slot off them.

  2. Having watched both our game and Chelsea’S yesterday, I think threatening their European slot is some way off. They’re light years ahead of where we currently are
