Newcastle offered chance to sign Ligue 1 forward on a cut-price deal – L’Equipe

According to reports in France, Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Marseille striker Bamba Dieng.

This comes from L’Equipe, who report that the Senegalese international is a player of interest at St James’ Park but not a priority target – which may explain why the Ligue 1 side are pushing him our way.

The piece claims that Everton and Fulham have also been handed the opportunity to bring the 22-year-old to the Premier League, with Marseille ready to cash in for around £10-12m.

L’Equipe state that we ‘have spoken’ with club officials at Marseille, as well as the player’s entourage, however it’s reported that Dieng would prefer to stay in France – whether that’s with his current club or via a loan move after interest from OGC Nice and Lorient.

So, if these reports are to be believed, it seems he is someone we could bring in on a cut-price deal, however he’s not a top target and doesn’t seem overly convinced that England is the right move for him at this stage of his career.
