TalkSPORT reporter makes £40m claim as Toon face dilemma to sign TWO new attackers

Speaking to GiveMeSport, talkSPORT presenter Alex Crook has claimed that Newcastle only have a remaining budget of around £40million as they look to sign another two attackers.

After spending around £150million in the two most recent windows, securing more signings was always going to be difficult despite the obvious necessity for some attacking talent.

Newcastle are currently in negotiations for Watford’s Joao Pedro who can play across a front three, but the limited budget may provide some complications as we are also on the lookout for a backup to Callum Wilson.

It is rumoured that our most recent bid for the Brazilian was around £30m, leaving very little in the bank for another forward option, unless we go for someone on loan.

On our bid for Pedro, Crooks said: “I’m not sure, I think they’re weighing it up, but I think they’ve only got £40 million to spend, and they still want two in. Two forward players, one wide player and a backup for Callum Wilson.”

Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos is another who has been mentioned as a recent target, but it seems unlikely that we will be able to sign both – especially as Ramos would surely demand a starting role, rather than as a backup.

  1. Only a select handful of people will actually know how much NUFC have left to spend, and i’m positive one of them IS NOT Alex Crook.
