Newcastle eyeing Bayern Munich talent available for £17m after impressive loan – Report

According to reports in Germany, Newcastle are one of several clubs keen on Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee.

Back in June, Het Laatste Nieuws reported that we’d joined the race to sign the 6ft 3′ Dutchman, but it’s now German outlet Kicker who are highlighting our interest in the 21-year-old.

They report that Newcastle, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Stuttgart and Augsburg are all admirers after the player impressed during a prolific loan spell at Anderlecht last season – seeing him bag 18 goals and 13 assists in all competitions.

The Belgian giants are keen to turn that loan into a permanent deal, with Club Brugge and an unnamed Italian side also keen, but it’s believed a Premier League side are more likely to match Bayern Munich’s £17m asking price.

That’s where Newcastle come into it, although it remains to be seen if we’ll up our interest in the Dutch U21 international after launching a second, albeit unsuccessful, bid for Joao Pedro on Thursday night.
