Eddie Howe “extremely keen” to bring Chelsea player to St James’ Park – TalkSPORT

According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Eddie Howe is “extremely keen” on bringing Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic to Newcastle as he looks to improve his attack.

The 23-year-old is one of four Chelsea fringe men that Newcastle are keeping a close eye on with Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja and Callum Hudson-Odoi also strongly linked over the past week.

Since signing for £57m three years ago, the USMNT captain has shown flashes of brilliance but has been unable to truly fulfil his potential in West London after suffering multiple injuries.

With the signing of Raheem Sterling and Chelsea’s interest in Everton’s Anthony Gordon, Pulisic could be allowed to leave in a bid to secure some first-team football ahead of the World Cup.

In terms of quality, the former Borussia Dortmund man would dramatically improve our starting eleven and, if fit, could offer a far greater goal threat than the likes of Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin and Ryan Fraser.

If the club can push on to sign both Pulisic and Watford’s Joao Pedro in the next two weeks, it will have been a very successful window, giving us every chance of building on last season’s 11th-placed finish.

  1. I’d rather we try sign Broja than Joao Pedro, but a shirt with Pedro on would look good, Pulisic if we can get him a no brainer. I hope we loan Pulisic, offer 70m for Gallagher and Broja then that be a great window.

  2. £70m for Gallagher. Are you serious? We could get Ramos and Hudson-Odoi for far less.
Pulisic would be the cream of the crop – a super player but we’ll never get him on loan.
Ramos, Paqueta and Odoi (loan) would do the trick. One striker, one midfielder and one winger, all capable of scoring goals – it’s a no-brainer.
