Last night, The Athletic’s Adam Leventhal revealed that João Pedro hasn’t travelled with the Watford squad ahead of Saturday’s clash with Preston.
The journalist – who covers all thigs Watford for The Athletic – stated that he’s likely to miss out due to ‘ankle pain’, with this coming just 24 hours after Newcastle had a second bid rejected for the Brazilian.
Many on social media weren’t buying it, believing it wasn’t just a coincidence – especially when the player himself is said to be so keen on a move to St James’ Park.
Since then, Hornets insider @louorns has added another layer of intrigue to the situation, saying he was told – prior to talk of this ‘ankle injury’ – that Pedro would miss the Preston trip due to ‘intense negotiations with Newcastle.’
So, is Pedro really struggling with a knock or is the first clear hint that he’s on his way out of Watford and eager to push through a move? Based on the latest revelation, it sounds to me like the latter!
Here’s what Lou had to say, suggesting talk of ‘ankle pain’ may be a convenient cover up as transfer talks continue:
‘Was told earlier Joao Pedro isn’t involved with the squad against Preston due to intense negotiations with Newcastle.
‘Interesting he’s now picked up an ankle injury at the same time…”
” intense negotiations”
My missus has them regularly.
Seems like it’s almost every month!
