Club receive ‘£30m proposal’ from Newcastle as Toon eye another exciting South American – Report

According to Globo Esporte – one of the leading media outlets in Brazil – Newcastle have come forward with a £30m proposal for Vasco da Gama’s star Andrey Santos.

This comes just 24 hours after another Brazilian outlet claimed we had ‘made contact’ over a potentially January move for the highly-rated midfielder, but it appears Newcastle are the first to come forward with an offer.

It has been suggested that the bid will now be ‘discussed in the coming days’ by Vasco, while Santos himself – who recently signed a new five-year deal – is believed to be ‘excited’ by the project on offer at St James’ Park.

As a big talent who has already worked his way into the Brazil Under-20 team, it would be an exciting move for the club – who are clearly doing a lot of scouting in South America – but such a high fee comes with enormous pressure and expectation for someone who remains largely unproven.

Eddie Howe will undoubtedly be keen to add some young potential stars into an already experience lineup, but whether this deal actually materialises remains to be seen.
