Newcastle leading the race to sign Scottish sensation – Alan Nixon

According to Alan Nixon, Newcastle United are leading the race to sign Motherwell talent Lennon Miller.

The senior reporter at The Sun claims that club officials have been watching the Scott closely in recent months, believing he is one of several young talents we are looking to add to our Academy.

Miller recently became the youngest ever player to feature for Motherwell, coming on from the bench in a League Cup win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle just a few days after his 16th birthday last month.

The teenage midfielder has made nine appearances for Scotland’s U17s and won Scotland’s Goal of the Year for 2021 after scoring from his own half against England.

Nixon also reveals that Sunderland’s Chris Rigg is on our wanted list, claiming that we are prepared to pay £2.5m for the 15-year-old talent who’s been tipped for big things on Wearside.

One thing’s for sure, it seems a big emphasis has been placed on recruiting some of the best young talent in the UK since Dan Ashworth arrived!

  1. Here we are, less than 2 weeks after the summer window has closed and we are “leading the race” to sign someone.

All a bit silly really considering we couldn’t get players in in the summer.

Not sure about that when we brought four players into our U21 set up over a short space of time.

Seems clear our recruitment at Academy level has stepped up a notch since Ashworth came in.
