Newcastle United have released Loris Karius’ first interview with the club after the German goalkeeper joined on a short-term deal yesterday.

He arrives as a free agent and has signed on an initial deal until January, although that could be extended until the end of the season if he impresses or the injury suffered by Karl Darlow proves to be worse than first feared

Speaking to NUFC TV, the 29-year-old admits it didn’t take him long to make a decision when he received a call from his home in Berlin, feeling a return to the Premier League and be part of an “exciting” project at St James’ Park was a no-brainer.

The former Liverpool stopper comes across well the interview, seeming like a team player who is eager to meet his new teammates, get to work in training, push Nick Pope and play his part wherever possible both on and off the pitch.
