Newcastle United will reignite their interest in Jack Harrison and James Maddison when the January transfer opens, according to new reports.
The Northern Echo claim that the arrival of a new winger – or attacking midfielder – is high on our agenda after Eddie Howe failed to land any of his targets in this department over the summer.
Both were heavily linked with summer moves to St James’ Park, however Leeds and Leicester were stubborn sellers, each rejecting two bids as we tried and failed to bring the English pair to Tyneside.
Leeds are pushing to tie Harrison down to a new deal, with the 25-year-old approaching the final 18 months of his contract at Elland Road.
Maddison is in a similar situation, although there’s doubts around him signing an extension given the ongoing issues at Leicester City – who sit bottom of the Premier League and in big trouble after one draw and six defeats from their opening seven games.
Either would add quality and depth to our attack. Maddison has bagged three goals and one assist so far this season, while Harrison has weighed in with a goal and three assists for the Whites.
