Newcastle United star now considering England switch – The Telegraph

Following his recent rise to the first team, Newcastle midfielder Elliot Anderson is currently considering switching his international allegiance from Scotland to England, according to The Telegraph.

The 19-year-old has represented Scotland since the age of 15 and was recently selected for the Under-21 squad for their games against Northern Ireland but pulled out due to injury.

However, there is a belief that the Geordie-born talent will be persuaded to make the switch to his home country after a string of impressive performances off the bench in the Premier League.

After an impressive spell at League Two outfit Bristol Rovers last year which ended in promotion, the youngster has earned the trust of manager Eddie Howe in pre-season training and in his handful of Premier League cameos.

Currently, there has been no formal approach from the English FA. While Newcastle are not pressuring the teenager to make an imminent decision on his future, The Telegraph suggest that he will switch his allegiances to the Three Lions should the FA come calling after watching him closely in recent months.

  1. There’s nowt like getting ahead of ourselves.
The lad can’t get a game with the first team so I don’t think who his international team will be is really an issue yet.

All very reminiscent of fans getting carried away with talk of call ups for Lascelles and Shelvey

No one said the senior set up mate! It’ll be the U20s and U21s he’s eyeing up.
