16-year-old Geordie named one of the top 20 Premier League talents – One to watch?

Newcastle United midfielder Lewis Miley has been listed as on of the top 20 Premier League talents by The Guardian after the youngster was included in the first-team squad for pre-season friendlies against Atalanta and Athletic Bilbao.

The 16-year-old joined the club at the age of seven and has since enjoyed a successful rise through to the Under-18s and swiftly into the Under-21s, joining his brother Jamie.

Miley – born in Gateshead – has also heavily impressed in the England set-up, scoring on his debut for the Under-17s in a 3-0 win away against Norway in what may be the first of many steps he takes through the Young Lions squads.

With the exciting attacking midfielder invited to join up with the first-team squad once again prior to our postponed away game against West Ham, Eddie Howe clearly has full faith in his young star to develop into a top level player.

After years of neglecting our academy and losing our best prospects to other top teams, supporters will be overjoyed that in years to come we may finally see some Geordie talent in our starting lineup.
