Newcastle’s final 9 fixtures before the World Cup – How many points will we pick up?

We’re not even two months into the season, but it won’t be long until domestic football takes a break for the World Cup in Qatar.

Despite several promising displays, Newcastle United haven’t actually won since that opening day win over Nottingham Forest, picking up five draws and two defeats in our seven games since.

With us set to break for the World Cup until late December in just over six weeks time, here’s the nine games on our schedule between now and then, featuring eight Premier League matches and one Carabao Cup (*) clash:

  • Fulham vs Newcastle
  • Newcastle vs Brentford
  • Man Utd vs Newcastle
  • Newcastle vs Everton
  • Tottenham vs Newcastle
  • Newcastle vs Aston Villa
  • Southampton vs Newcastle
  • * Newcastle vs Crystal Palace (Carabao Cup)
  • Newcastle vs Chelsea

So, we face three very winnable home games against sides who all finished below us in the table last season, away trips to Fulham and Southampton, two tough away days at Manchester United and Tottenham, a meeting with Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup and a home clash with Chelsea in our final game before the break on November 12th.

From that, I can see us progressing in the cup, picking up wins against Fulham, Everton and Aston Villa drawing against Brentford, Man Utd and Southampton and losing to Spurs and Chelsea.

That would mean a cup success and 12 points from our next eight Premier League games. How do you see us getting on, folks?
