Joelinton tops Premier League chart in surprise department as three Mags feature in top 20

Outside of the traditional ‘big six’, Joelinton has the highest dribble success rate in the Premier League with teammate Bruno Guimaraes sitting behind him in fourth.

As revealed by The Other 14, Joelinton’s 70% success rate is higher than the likes of Ebere Eze, Allan Saint-Maximin, Philippe Coutinho and Said Benrahma, showing another area of his game that appears to be improving.

Since his transition from the frontline to the middle of the park, the 26-year-old Brazilian has been nothing short of extraordinary, going from struggling striker to midfield dynamo under Eddie Howe.

While many would like to see an improvement in the £40m-man’s technical ability and end product, there is no denying his physical dominance – and it seems he’s also developing his ability to beat a man with the ball at his feet and drive towards goal.

  1. Ahh – selective statistics!
Like many people I consider your average stats a complete waste of time. After all, there’s no direct correlation between say, ball possession and actually winning a game, and as far as I’m aware the premier league don’t give points because you had the ball longer than the other team. Fortunately that’s still based on who scored the most goals. That said, the way things are going in the modern world I wouldn’t be surprised if that changed.
But selective stats! Now that’s totally different.
Based on eliminating other players and clubs who did better selective stats are a contrived version of the basic evil designed to give a portion of the spotlight to those who don’t actually deserve it. It’s a bit like being at primary school where everybody gets a medal.

What a complete waste of time!
