Man Utd plan £70m move for Newcastle United star as new report reveals four-man shortlist

According to a new report, Manchester United are the latest club looking to sign Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes.

In an exclusive for Football Transfers, Jacque Talbot reveals that the Brazilian is one of four midfielders on the Red Devils radar, with Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, West Ham’s Declan Rice and Barcelona’s Frenkie De Jong also shortlisted.

The piece states that some at Man Utd feel ‘an offer of £70m’ may be enough to land Bruno, although I’d be shocked if such a fee tempted Toon owners into a sale – especially when we seem hell-bent on building a side around the South American, not selling him.

He reports that Erik ten Hag plans to bring in at least one top midfielder under the age of 25 in 2023, believing Casemiro is more of a short-term fix at Old Trafford.

Here’s a snippet from Talbot’s latest piece for Football Transfers:

Meanwhile, some at the club feel that an offer of £70 million may tempt Guimaraes from Newcastle, who are resolute that they won’t sell.

Resolve from the player may be tested if Newcastle fails to reach the top four this season, though the expectancy is that he will stay. It is clear that the star’s agent has been making noises via outlets to drum up interest and bring about a fresh contract renewal. In any case, Man Utd are keen on the former Lyon maestro.

It’s inevitable that big clubs will come looking for Bruno – a 24-year-old star who is already considered one of the Premier League’s best midfielders – but the club will fight tooth and nail to keep him on Tyneside, with improved terms and a new contract set to be discussed next summer.

  2. Only £70 m?????? In this market???? For a player like Bruno’s quality? Whoever put such offer forward is a big joke and whoever accept to sell Bruno only for a tiny £70 m is a bigger jock.

  3. Seriously?
Gone are the days where the likes of man utd can rock up to the door and just take players away. We are now a major player, not just in the PL but in Europe and beyond. Remember our position when Bruno and Tripps agreed to sign. There’s no chance they’re leaving this project any time soon.

  4. If Man Ute are serious, then the first bid needs to be in the region of $250,000,000 and even then, I doubt Newcastle would sell.

  5. Manure must be very stupid. They wanted 12m for us to loan a player who couldn’t get a game. 200 million and they might think about it.
