Player with £26m release clause set to be watched by Newcastle United scouts – Report

As reported by Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Newcastle are currently in battle with Southampton and Brentford to sign Braga forward Vitinha after his blistering start to the season.

The 22-year-old has already recorded five goals and three assists in the first 13 games of Liga Portugal this season and only recently scored a 36-minute hat-trick against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League.

The player – who is ‘much appreciated for his speed, shock-power and eye for goals’ – has also bagged four goals in five Europa League appearances this season, with the report stating that Toon scouts will watch him in action for Portugal’s U21s in upcoming friendlies against Czech Republic and Japan.

With a £26m release clause in his contract, the young striker is certainly within our price range, but it is unknown whether we would be willing to depart with a sizeable chunk of our budget for relatively unproven talent.

It is expected that we will explore the market in January as we look to capitalise on our strong league position, but with Alexander Isak set to return from injury, an exciting young forward should be fairly low on the list of priority signings for the moment.
