Premier League ‘Team of the Season so far’ selected by Alan Shearer – FIVE Mags feature!

Alan Shearer has named FIVE Newcastle United players in his Premier League Team of the Season so far.

Nick Pope is in goal, Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schar feature in defence, Bruno Guimaraes is alongside Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka in midfield and Miguel Almiron is part of a front four that features Toon target James Maddison and Man City duo Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.

Some have accused Shearer of bias towards his boyhood club, with no Premier League side featuring more than Newcastle United (5), but our stunning form so far this season – leaving us in third over the World Cup break – makes all five fully deserving of their place.

No one has kept more clean sheets than the brilliant Nick Pope – who has been protected superbly by the creative Kieran Trippier and consistent Fabian Schar.

Bruno Guimaraes has quickly established himself as one of the best midfielders in the division after more all action displays in the middle of the park, while Miguel Almiron is the highest scoring winger in the league after eight goals in 15 games.

Here’s Shearer’s XI in full, which also features Joao Cancelo and William Saliba, along with Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta as manager:
