Toon owners respond to Cristiano Ronaldo approach after Manchester United exit – Report

According to reports, Newcastle United have made it clear they will NOT be making any move for Cristiano Ronaldo following his exit from Old Trafford last night.

90min report that the player’s camp have been in contact with Toon chiefs over the ‘past few days’ to see if we’d be interested in a potential deal, however it’s believed the response Tyneside was a big fat no.

The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has also offered an update on the Ronaldo links, insisting that Newcastle have ‘no interest’ in the 37-year-old for two reasons, feeling his best days are behind him and that his inflated ego would not fit into the ‘dressing room culture’ Eddie Howe has worked hard on since his arrival on Tyneside.

Aside from that, his wages would be astronomical. He is a legend of the game, but he feels like the last player we are about to sign when Howe has placed a big emphasis on young, hungry talents who can grow with the club, work hard and buy into the high-pressing system he’s deployed.

Some would laugh at such a statement, but I’m fairly certain Ronaldo would be a hinderance, not a help, both on and off the pitch.

  1. No thanks, his ego would destroy our team harmony and would not suit our current style of play anyway.

Can see him finishing in Qatar or in the MLS, after throwing the toys out the pram at Man Utd can’t see any elite clubs being interested in him.
