Mehrdad Ghodoussi sends message to Newcastle fans ahead bonus game at St James’ Park

Newcastle United co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi has urged Toon fans to buy tickets for the Women’s FA Cup tie against Barnsley at St. James’ Park on Sunday, believing a 35,000 crowd is still possible.

Our ladies will be looking to qualify for the third round of the cup with over 25,000 tickets already sold for the occasion, but the ever-ambitious Ghodoussi doesn’t want to stop there.

This is not the first time that the women will have played at St James’ Park – back in May, over 22,000 came to see them win against Alnwick Town in Division One.

The team are also looking to go one step further this season in the league as they look to gain promotion into the division above after narrowly missing out on top spot last year.

Despite not being in the Women’s Super League, it’s great to see the team get a great backing once again and for the owners to show their support for every aspect of the club.

See Ghodoussi’s tweet below and buy your tickets here.
