England are through to the last 16 of the World Cup, where we will face Group A runners-up Senegal in the knockout stages following a 3-0 win over Wales on Tuesday night..
There was no Newcastle United player in Gareth Southgate’s starting line-up, as Kyle Walker came in for Kieran Trippier, however our vice captain and Callum Wilson both featured in the second half; where England ran riot!
Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a brilliant free-kick and Phil Foden made it two just minutes later after tapping in a brilliant Harry Kane cross.
Wilson then replaced Kane with 57 minutes on the clock, with Trippier coming on at left-back for Luke Shaw before Rashford scored his second. Wilson was free for the cut-back and was screaming for the ball in search of his first World Cup goal, but he could have no complaints as the Man Utd forward made it 3-0.
Our number nine almost bagged his second assist in as many substitute appearances with 15 minutes remaining, as he burst into space and set up Jude Bellingham; who has his effort blocked by Danny Ward.
So, a comfortable win for the Three Lions to dump Wales out and set up a last 16 clash with Senegal – who qualified from their group alongside Netherlands after a 2-1 win over Ecuador.
