Player ‘certain to join Newcastle’ after informing club he wants Toon move – Report

According to reports in East London, Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of West Ham defender Harrison Ashby.

As revealed by West Ham insider Claret and Hugh – who confirmed our interest over the summer – the right-back ‘looks certain to join Newcastle’ in 2023 after refusing to sign a new deal and making it known he’d like to seal a move to St James’ Park.

The 21-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, so it’s believed he’ll seal a cut-price move in January or arrive on a free transfer next summer.

Ashby is ‘one of the best prospects’ in the West Ham Academy and shares the same agent as Toon boss Eddie Howe.

The Times reported that the Scotland U21 star was ‘keen’ to join Newcastle on deadline day after a series of late bids were knocked back, but it seems he’ll get his wish in the coming months if these West Ham insiders have got this right.

Ashby has made just one Premier League appearance for the Irons, featuring in a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal last year and in three European ties across the past two seasons.
