Geordie star bags hat-trick & former Arsenal man scores as Saudi side lose 6-0 to young Mags

Newcastle United’s Academy continued their good form in the Al Abtal Friendly Games yesterday, beating the Saudi White Falcons 6-0 at our Little Benton Academy base.

Fresh from signing his first professional contract at St James’ Park over the summer, the Throckley-born striker Michael Ndiweni bagged a hat-trick in front of new U18 boss Graeme Carrick.

This is his fourth goal in this series of mid-season friendlies, as the highly-rated 18-year-old found the net in our 2-1 win over Austria Vienna out in Salou last month.

Shaun Mavididi – the former Arsenal talent who signed on Tyneside last summer – also scored in Wednesday’s win, with other goals coming from Jamie Miley and Kyle Crossley.

New recruit Jordan Hackett bagged an assist from full-back following his recent move from Tottenham, keeping a clean sheet in front of England U18 international goalkeeper, Max Thompson.

Academy XI: Max Thompson (Taylor Ross 79), Josh Stewart, Logan Watts, Harry Powell (Luke Craggs 45), Jordan Hackett, Nathan Carlyon (c), Jamie Miley, Shaun Mavididi (Sean Neave 60), Darren Palmer (Rory Powell 45), Kyle Crossley, Michael Ndiweni.

Subs not used: Ciaran Thompson, Johnny Emerson, Dylan Charlton.
