Sky Sports: Newcastle United star suffers new muscle strain – Worrying news for Eddie Howe

Some concerning news has emerged from the England camp today, as Sky Sports have revealed some ‘breaking news’ on Callum Wilson’s fitness.

They report that the Newcastle United striker has been forced to sit out of England’s training session in Qatar today due to a muscle strain.

Rob Dorsett – a senior reporter at Sky Sports News – has been told that it’s thought to be a ‘minor’ injury, however it is a real worry to hear that our number nine has suffered another muscle problem.

It’s not yet clear where the injury has occurred, with the 30-year-old missing five games for Newcastle United this season due to a hamstring issue.

Wilson didn’t feature in last night’s 3-0 win over Senegal, but played 47 minutes of football in impressive cameos against Iran and Wales.

Here’s the lunchtime update from Sky Sports, who report that the striker’s absence will be a fresh worry for Gareth Southgate ahead of Saturday’s quarter final clash with France:
