Dan Ashworth’s bargain move goes public as Toon discuss two-year plan for new signing

The Telegraph have released a piece today on Newcastle United’s plan for Garang Kuol; the Aussie star set to arrive at St James’ Park next month.

Luke Edwards reveals that Dan Ashworth was a key cog in our move for the teenage sensation, snapping him up for just £600,000 after becoming aware of the player during his time at Brighton.

Following his incredible form in the A-League and World Cup cameos with Australia – where he became the youngest player since Pele to feature in the knockout stages – it’s believed Newcastle have already been ‘inundated with offers’ to take the 18-year-old on loan.

It’s thought a Championship move could allow him to get used to conditions in England, however work permit issues could mean he’s sent to a European league with less strict constrains for overseas players.

With that in mind, it’s The Telegraph’s understanding that a spell in Portugal or Germany is currently being favoured by the club, who could then send Kuol to a Championship club next season should he need more time to develop.

Wherever he goes over the coming year or two, it feels like Ashworth has snuck in ahead of the rest to secure a real bargain at £600,000!
