According to reports, Newcastle United have been encouraged to make a move for Fiorentina star Dodo by the agency who look after Bruno Guimaraes.
The Chronicle claim that our ‘excellent relationship’ with the midfielder’s representatives have seen them recommend the 24-year-old right-back to Newcastle, with Dodo also part of the Bertolucci Sport stable.
After shining in Ukraine with Shakhtar Donetsk, where he bagged five goals and 17 assists in 97 appearances, the Brazilian sealed a £12m move to Italy over the summer.
Since then, he’s impressed in his 16 appearances for Fiorentina, helping them reach the knockout stages of the Europa Conference League and the top 10 in Serie A over the World Cup break.
Whether Newcastle United follow up on the offer from the agency representing Dodo remains to be seen, but it’s interesting that he’s a young right-back; a position said to be high on our priority list next month as we search for an understudy to Kieran Trippier.
It’s worth noting that the heavily linked Andrey Santos – currently at Vasco Da Gama – is also represented by Bertolucci Sports, as is former Toon target Diego Carlos, so it remains to be seen if our strong relationship will help oversee another January deal 12 months on from Bruno’s arrival.
