Newcastle make £9m offer for versatile forward in bid to beat rivals to bargain deal – Report

According to German outlet Bild, Newcastle have offered to pay €10m (£9m) for Marcus Thuram in a bid to sign the Bundesliga star before competitors in January.

The Frenchman’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning a whole host of clubs around Europe are looking to sign him for free in the summer. 

However, it has now been reported that the Magpies ‘have made an offer to Borussia Monchengladbach to have him as early as January’ in order to ‘outpace’ rivals clubs in the running.

The Athletic have also been reporting on our interest in the 25-year-old, revealing that his name has come up in recruitment meetings. This comes after Allan Saint-Maximin recently talked up his special friendship with Thuram; who has 13 goals to his name already this season.

The versatile striker has been in top form so far this season and impressed for France during their World Cup campaign, making an appearance in the final and assisting Kylian Mbappe for their crucial equaliser to send it to extra-time.
