Player ‘open’ to Newcastle move receives fresh interest as Toon face transfer battle – Report

According to Fabrizio Romano, a host of ‘top clubs’ are now bidding to beat Newcastle United to the signing of Real Valladolid star Ivan Fresneda.

The journalist reports that Newcastle, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus have all been pursuing the highly-rated right-back over the first two weeks of the January transfer window, but it’s believed a host of other European giants have now registered their interest.

Sky Sports revealed last week that the 18-year-old was ‘open’ to a potential move to St James’ Park and ‘flattered’ by our interest following talks.

It’s clear we’ve been tracking the youngster for some time now – Steve Nickson was spotted watching the Spaniard recently – with Eddie Howe keen to bring in a young full-back to learn from the experienced Kieran Trippier.

Valladolid are still yet to make a decision on Fresneda’s future, but the race to sign the promising teenager certainly just got a lot tougher.
