Newcastle fear PL rivals are plotting against club as Toon eye Bundesliga midfielder – Report

According to The Mail’s Craig Hope, there is ‘little optimism’ that Premier League clubs will be willing to do business with Newcastle this month, forcing us to look elsewhere for potential signings.

Interest has been shown in Wolves’ Ruben Neves, Youri Tielemans of Leicester, Manchester United’s Scott McTominay and Chelsea duo Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

However, all of the above are unwilling to do January business with us, particularly with regards to loan deals – perhaps due to our Saudi Arabia links or the fact we are a top four rival for two of those clubs.

As an alternative, Newcastle may be forced to look to the continent for reinforcements, which bring us to Borussia Monchengladbach’s Kouadio Kone.

Hope reports that the 21-year-old is on our list of targets, with the Frenchman one of the most exciting young midfielders in the Bundesliga right now.

Eddie Howe is believed to prefer Premier League proven players, feeling they’d be more likely to make an immediate impact, but you only have to look at Bruno Guimaraes’ arrival this time last year to know that’s not always the case!

  1. Swings and roundabouts, if these clubs don’t want to do business with Newcastle, fair enough, the hierarchy at Newcastle should remember that this works both ways. Ferkum all!

  3. Another load of Tosh from Craig Hope and the Daily Mail, and why do you spread this rubbish. Nothing new about other clubs unwilling to sell their players to their rivals duh! Drama queen he is always wanting to disrespect our clubs, either this or saying players refuse to move to our club and prefer somewhere else. We will know soon enough who we bring in when the club announce the news. Hwtl

  4. I have said this all along that the PL have a grudge against Newcastle, Besides our location which comes into factor, that many players see the bright lights of London better than coming to Geordieland. The PL teams resent Newcastle because of their wealth but that doesn’t stop players going elsewhere like Arsenal+chelsea who seem to think them two should be the only ones to win the League. Hopefully Newcastle can get some players in this window to strengthen the squad.

  7. it seems like Newcastle United is having a tough time trying to sign new players in the January transfer window! It’s a shame that Premier League clubs are not willing to do business with them, especially loan deals, my location. It’s interesting that Craig Hope from The Mail thinks that it might be because of the club’s Saudi Arabia links or the fact that they are a top-four rival for some of those clubs. But, it’s not all bad news for Newcastle fans! It looks like the club is considering Kouadio Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach as an alternative. Kone is a young and exciting midfielder who is making waves in the Bundesliga, and I think he could be a great addition to Newcastle’s squad.
