Sources close to Anthony Gordon deal issue update as Toon enter talks with three clubs

The Mail’s Craig Hope has issued a Tuesday afternoon update on our ongoing pursuit of Anthony Gordon, revealing the current state of play in our search for a new attacker.

According to sources close to the deal, Everton have been demanding ‘close to £60m’ for the winger, yet it’s thought a package worth £25m plus £15m in add-ons could lead to a compromise between the two clubs.

Hope has confirmed that Newcastle have now entered ‘formal talks’ with the Toffees in a bid to strike a deal, but insists that the club are also discussing potential alternatives with ‘at least two’ overseas clubs.

The Mail add that Chelsea remain long-standing admirers of the 21-year-old and are more likely to meet Everton’s whopping asking price should they refuse to budge, however any offer from Stamford Bridge is likely to include a loan back to Goodison Park; something Gordon isn’t said to be keen on.

The England U21 star is believed to be Eddie Howe’s top domestic target, with the Toon boss a big admirer of the scouser.

  1. What happened to being the right character for the team, Anthony Gordon is a petulant cheat and even the Everton supporters hate him, he should be nowhere near Newcastle United.

  2. Totally agree, his attitude is way off what we thought Eddie wanted. But something must be ticking his checklist of requirements? 0-2 to the toon tonight. Hwtl

Couldn’t agree more, mate. Mardy, petulant and actually, not particularly great. Very hot and cold, I’d sooner keep St Max who when he’s hot, he’s blazing.
    As for £60m 😂🤣😂 – someone’s on acid.
