New twist in Anthony Gordon saga as Sky Sports release telling update from Everton camp

After missing training over the past two days, it looks like Anthony Gordon has failed to turn up at Everton’s base for a THIRD day.

As revealed by Sky Sports News, the 21-year-old is yet to arrive at Finch Farm, despite the remainder of the squad being out on the grass at 11am.

Last night, several journalist reported that he was due back in training today, so his continued absence seems telling. It’s believed the player has not handed in any official transfer request as of yet, but this latest development suggests he is pushing for a move to St James’ Park.

Gordon is said to be very keen to link up with Eddie Howe and would prefer to join Newcastle over Chelsea.

The big issue, however, is the two clubs agreeing a fee. Speaking to NUFC Blog yesterday, Jacque Talbot told us that Newcastle are on the verge of striking a deal, as the Toffees are expected to accept our latest offer and sanction his move to the North East.

For now though, here’s what Sky’s Vinny O’Connor has had to say live from Everton’s training base:

  1. As eager as he may be to leave Everton – even if it is for Newcastle – if he has went AWOL for 3 days – is that the right type of character we are looking for?!.

  2. I’m not a big fan, takes too many dives in my opinion, most of them look rubbish too. That’s not something you can teach out of someone, that’s in his head all the time. Awful attitude. I’d waste £6m on him and not a penny more, that includes his agents fee and his wages! He needs to go somewhere like Celtic where he can be adored and add a bit of spice to the Old Firm!
