Anthony Gordon has been spotted on Tyneside ahead of a medical, with fan-footage showing the winger arriving at the club’s Benton training base on Saturday morning.
Last night, it was confirmed that a £40m deal had been agreed with Everton, with some reporting that a further £5m could be paid in potential add-ons.
Personal terms are not expected to be a problem and a long-term contract will be announced once medical tests are completed.
Interestingly, Sky Sports report that Everton have inserted a sell-on clause into the deal, although it’s not yet known what percentage they’d receive should we sell the 21-year-old in the future.
Here’s footage of the winger arriving at the club’s training base this morning:
A total package of £45m is on the pricey side, however we must back Eddie Howe’s judgement on this one; especially when he has the sort of pace, energy and intensity the Toon boss seems to crave from his players.
