Sky Sports: Newcastle plan two signings before 11pm Tuesday as Toon launch another late bid

It seems Anthony Gordon isn’t the only Premier League talent on Newcastle’s radar as we enter the final few days of the January transfer window.

As revealed by Sky Sports, Newcastle United have launched another bid for West Ham right-back Harrison Ashby.

It’s thought the Hammers have rejected our offer, but talks are ongoing between the two club, with the club ‘open to doing business’ with Newcastle before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.

Ashby was heavily linked with a move to Tyneside over the summer – we had a late bid rejected on deadline day. Since then, he’s refused to sign a new contract at the London Stadium and could leave for next to nothing in the summer if West Ham fail to find a buyer this month.

Sky Sports report that we remain keen on recruiting a young right-back able to learn from Kieran Trippier, having shown interest in Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda; who looks set to join Arsenal or Borussia Dortmund instead.

With his contract running down, it remains to be seen if we’ll wait until the summer and sign him after a tribunal or up our offer to bring him in over the final few days of January.
