Toon talent scores hat-trick in incredible 10-goal thriller – Another ‘one to watch’ at Newcastle?

Newcastle United winger Johnny Emerson scored a hat-trick for our U18s in an incredible 6-4 win over Leeds on Saturday.

There’s been plenty of excitement about fellow youngsters Elliot Anderson and Lewis, but the 17-year-old is the latest ‘one to watch’ on Tyneside, with yesterday’s man of the match display taking him to an outstanding seven goals in 11 appearances this season.

At 3-0 down, the Scotland U18 international grabbed his first of the day from 12-yards out in the third minute of first half injury time to pull one back.

Emerson then scored either side of Leeds’ fourth to make it 4-3 with 58 minutes in the clock – inspiring an epic come back as we scored three times between the 83rd and 87th minute to seal a 6-4 win.

The Carlisle-born attacker is represented by CAA Base, the same agency who look after Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier; who recently committed his future to the club by signing a new deal on Friday.

Our young Mags are in action again next Saturday, taking on a Liverpool side who are currently three points above us in the U18 Premier League.
