Toon set for huge end-of-season payout to boost summer budget after 14-game streak

Newcastle United are set to be handed a sizeable end-of-season payout with every single game of 2023 so far being selected for TV coverage.

From away to Arsenal on January 3 to away to Nottingham Forest on March 17, all 14 fixtures – including both FA Cup and League Cup – have been selected by various broadcasters, with the April selections yet to be announced.

Naturally this will come with a huge financial boost – clubs receive a facility fee of around around £1.2m for each broadcasted fixture, resulting in a rough total of about £16.8m for our games so far.

However, this is not including matches that have been televised before the turn of the year – a further nine games were selected between August and December 2022, taking that total to £27.6m.

As a club that are trying to spend big with limited funds due to FFP, this will come as very welcome news and will surely have a big impact on our transfer budget in the summer.

It’s also huge credit to the work Eddie Howe and his players are doing to get us back amongst the top teams in the league – and hopefully we’re here to stay for a long, long time.

Newcastle are a big draw again in the eyes of broadcasters and our TV run over 2022/23 could give our summer budget a timely boost.
