Three changes as Lascelles lands rare start vs Man City – Official team news

The teams are in ahead of today’s 12.30pm kick-off at the Etihad, where Newcastle Unite take on Man City in our first game since last weekend’s defeat at Wembley.

Here’s the XI and subs bench Eddie Howe has gone with:

4-3-3: Pope – Trippier, Lascelles, Botman, Burn – Longstaff, Bruno, Joelinton – Almiron, Wilson, Gordon.

SUBS: Dubravka, Saint-Maximin, Ritchie, Targett, Isak, Manquillo, Murphy, Willock, Anderson.

Jamaal Lascelles has come in for his first Premier League start since that 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, with Fabian Schar missing out with a knock.

Anthony Gordon also makes his full debut, replacing Allan Saint-Maximin down the left, while Sean Longstaff has kept his place ahead of Joe Willock and Alexander Isak remains on the bench; a real surprise given how sluggish Callum Wilson has looked of late.

Nick Pope returns to the side following a ban. Martin Dubravka is back on the bench, meaning there’s no Loris Karius in the squad.

Here’s the side Pep Guardiola has gone with, seeing De Bruyne return to their starting 11 alongside the likes of Foden, Haaland and Grealish:

Manchester City XI: Ederson – Walker, Akanji, Dias, Ake – Rodri, De Bruyne, Gundogan – Foden, Haaland, Grealish.
