New Castore claims arrive from The Times – A double blow for Newcastle United?

According to The Times, kit manufacturer Castore will be producing Newcastle’s strips for the 2023/24 campaign – shutting down claims a lucrative deal with Adidas may be on the horizon.

Many fans have already voiced their displeasure over the quality and service of Castore, so this is unlikely to be welcome news for the majority of the Toon Army.

While this is disappointing from a fan’s perspective, it also means that the club won’t be generating any extra income from a new commercial deal, with Castore likely to be one the ‘difficult contracts‘ Amanda Staveley referred to in last week’s Business of Football summit.

The same report also claims that another ‘Saudi’ kit is on the way, similar to this season’s third kit, as a way to strengthen the ‘ties the club and the county of Saudi Arabia.’ This will no doubt bring an onslaught of criticism from the media.

But regardless of how the kits are designed, the sooner the club can find a new manufacturer the better – Adidas or not. Hopefully discussions over that are already underway and a new front-of-shirt sponsor can replace FUN88 this summer to boost commercial revenue

  1. Well, if people stick together and stop buying from Castore then Newcastle fans will have the last laugh but unfortunately people are to fickle and will continue to buy from a supplier which has consistently let the fans down with items that are out of stock, or they have allowed fans to order with no delivery date or no item ever arriving.

  2. Personal opinion the media and Oliver Holt in particular can do one politics should not be brought into any sport it’s people’s escape and enjoyment not for people to ram the views down sport fan’s throats
