Eddie Howe has confirmed that Anthony Gordon will be missing for a ‘few weeks’ after suffering an ankle injury.
The issue was sustained in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Man City and kept him out of Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Wolves, where he was replaced by Allan Saint-Maximin in a new-look attack that also featured Isak and Murphy.
Howe is unsure if he’ll be back after the international break, but fears he’ll ‘probably’ be missing for our next two games against Nottingham Forest and Man Utd.
It’s a shame for our £40m man, who hasn’t got going yet since sealing a January move from Everton, although it’s perhaps just as well Miguel Almiron scored a confidence-boosting goal now the scouse winger is facing a spell on the sidelines.
Here’s what Howe’s had to say on the injury:
“We’ve had quite a lot to digest this week, we have had a couple of injuries. Anthony Gordon we lose for a few weeks.
“I am not 100% sure how serious that is for us. But a short-term blow for sure.
“It was from a tackle. It swelled up, we had it scanned. We were hoping that we could get away with it, and he would be all right, but unfortunately not, so he’ll probably miss the next two games.
“Not sure whether he’ll be back after the international break. We hope so, but not 100% certain.”
