New report claims Newcastle are ‘willing to pay up to €50m’ for highly-rated striker

According to reports in Italy, Newcastle are ‘willing to pay up to €50m’ for Atalanta striker Rasmus Højlund.

This comes from Tutto Atalanta – a Bergamo-based outlet that focuses on all things Atalanta, who add that Arsenal are also keen on the highly-rated 20-year-old.

Højlund only sealed a €17m move to Serie A club last summer from Sturm Graz, but has already attracted interest from other European clubs after some hugely impressive performances in his breakout season.

The Danish sensation has already been dubbed as the next Erling Haaland for his unique blend of size (he’s 6ft 3′), lightning pace and ice-cool finishing, showing maturity beyond his years in front of goal. In just 15 starts for his new club, he’s bagged nine goals and two assists.

Atalanta have struggled financially in recent years and may look to make a quick profit on the player. If we really are willing to pay around €50m (£43m), they’d almost triple their money on the Scandinavian star.

Alexander Isak could be the future of Newcastle United, but with Chris Wood activating his permanent move to Nottingham Forest and Callum Wilson struggling to stay fit, the signing of another young forward with huge potential would make perfect sense.

Here’s a few clips of Højlund in action:

  1. He would be absolutely ideal to partner with Isak and the club must do all they can to secure him.
