Toon fear injury is worse than first anticipated and star man spotted back at training ground

Speaking before the international break, Eddie Howe said Anthony Gordon was facing a race against time to be fit for next Sunday’s clash with Man Utd.

A week later, The Athletic report that he is now a ‘doubt’ for our next THREE fixtures against, suggesting he could also sit out trips to West Ham and Brentford next month.

The winger suffered an injury in our 2-0 defeat to Man City, forcing him to miss recent wins over Wolves and Nottingham Forest.

Elliot Anderson did brilliantly last week and Jacob Murphy was very lively down the right, but Gordon’s injury – which appears to be worse than first feared – comes at a bad time when Miguel Almiron has also been ruled out for ‘six weeks.’

It seems the Paraguayan is making good progress, however. He posted pictures on his Instagram story – along with the caption ‘non-stop’ – showing him in the gym at our training ground and working on his recovery while his fellow Toon teammates enjoy a warm-weather camp in Dubai.

Nick Pope has also stayed behind after withdrawing from the England squad, so we’ll have to hope he is fine for next week’s crucial clash with Man Utd.
