Exciting Toon target admits he wants to follow in Bruno Guimaraes’ footsteps – Advantage NUFC?

Last month, GOAL reported that Newcastle had enquired about the signing of Vitor Roque; the highly-rated Brazilian tipped to seal a big move to Europe this summer.

A few weeks later, the Athletico Paranaense star has now revealed that Bruno Guimaraes is huge source of ‘motivation’ for him, saying he’s encouraged him in games and is a player he hopes to emulate.

Our midfield maestro played for the same South American club before making his big move to Europe – first via Lyon before sealing a big money move to the Premier League last January.

Roque could well follow a similar path, with the likes of Newcastle, Barcelona, Chelsea and PSG all heavily linked with the 18-year-old sensation, who recently helped his country win the South American Sub-20 Championship with six goals in eight appearances.

Here’s what he had this to say when speaking to AS, namechecking Bruno when asked about a potential move to Europe this summer:

“I don’t talk much with him (Bruno), but he did encourage me in a game.

Bruno Guimarães is a player who has made a fantastic story in Paranaense, for me it is a motivation to want to achieve the path that he has set.”

It would take a lot of money and convincing to attract the young star to Tyneside over other European giants, but having Bruno here as well as the Brazilian contingent would certainly help him settle in quickly.
