Watch Garang Kuol score first ever international goal in Australia’s 3-1 win over Ecuador – Video

Garang Kuol may be frustrated by his lack of game time in Scotland, but the Socceroos sensation has enjoyed a moment to savour today, scoring his first international goal for his country.

After being selected for his country for the international break, the 18-year-old tapped home in the 83rd minute to seal a 3-1 win over Ecuador this morning.

A huge moment for the former Central Coast Mariners star, who is currently on loan with Hearts after sealing a permanent switch to Newcastle United in earlier this year.

Kuol has struggled for minutes since arriving at Tynecastle – he’s started just one league game so far, with seven of his eight appearances coming from the bench – but this will do his confidence the world of good. Watch the goal below:

On his lack of minutes in Scotland, it’s important to remember he wasn’t actually starting regularly in the A-League, so our concern over his limited game time should be managed; especially when he’s an 18-year-old lad who will still be settling in after moving from the other side of the world.

Either way, this is a landmark goal in the young mans career and memory he’ll savour for the rest of his life. Congrats, Garang!

  1. Over hyped. Hope he makes the grade but the amount of “next Harry Kewell” players that have been touted in the past decade has been off the charts..none of them have lived up to the hype.
