Double deal close as Newcastle look set to appoint Man United and Southampton duo

According to reports emerging late last night, Newcastle are closing in on TWO behind-the-scenes appointments.

Fabrizio Romano claims we are in ‘advanced talks’ to appoint David Harrison – Man Utd’s current Head of Young Recruitment – as our new Head of Emerging Talent.

Elsewhere, the Secret Scout reveal that Dan Rice – Head of Youth Recruitment at Southampton – is also on his way to Tyneside, joining an ever-growing department of talent spotters within the club’s Academy; which looks set to be transformed over the coming years after a recent restructure.

This comes after Romano revealed that we’d struck a deal for Man City’s Paul McLaren, who will become our Head of UK Scouting (ages 13-18), while West Ham’s Delroy Ebanks has also agreed to join the club as our Southern Youth Scout.

It’s not yet clear what Rice’s specific role will be, but Romano adds that Harrison will ‘work for first team and oversee Academy signings world wide.’

With our Academy underperforming for far too long following years of neglect from Mike Ashley, it seems Dan Ashworth is now leading what promises to be a fresh and exciting new era.
