Scott McTominay responds to Newcastle rumours with surprise brace on Saturday – Video

A few days after being heavily linked with a summer move to St James’ Park, Scott McTominay scored a six-minute brace for Scotland on Saturday afternoon.

On Monday, The Telegraph reported that Newcastle looked set to make a summer move for the Man Utd midfielder, with Eddie Howe believing his physicality and athleticism can add something different to his side.

One thing the 26-year-old is not known for is his goals – he’s scored just once in 36 for his country and two in 32 for the Red Devils this season – but the Scot bagged two in Scotland’s 3-0 win over Cyprus yesterday, reminding Toon chiefs that he is capable in the final third with two late goals at Hampden Park.

His first features a lovely touch and left-footed finish after a smart run behind Cyprus’ back line, while his second is with his right, firing into the corner after arriving late into the box from an Andy Robertson cut back.
