Newcastle set to transfer list four players and several facing uncertain future – Report

According to The Athletic, Newcastle will put Isaac Hayden and Jeff Hendrick up for sale when they return from Championship loans, while Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis will also be transfer listed in search of fresh starts.

The same piece also reports that Jamaal Lascelles, Emil Krafth, Javier Manquillo and Karl Darlow could also depart, with all four slipping down the pecking order following the arrivals of Sven Botman, Kieran Trippier and Nick Pope.

Hayden is currently at Norwich, but another injury-riddled season for the tough-tackling midfielder means the obligation to buy in that loan move is unlikely to be activated.

As for Hendrick, he’s barely missed a minute for Reading, starting in 37 of their 38 league games and scoring four along the way, but his wage demands could make a permanent move unlikely.

This could harm our attempts to sell, as The Athletic report that their sizeable salaries could work against the club, with the same applying to Jamal Lewis; who still has two years left on his current deal.

A move for Lascelles could make sense – Schar has been brilliant and we appear to be in the market for another right-sided centre-back this summer – while one of Krafth or Manquillo look destined to leave now Harrison Ashby has also been signed to learn from Kieran Trippier.

Karl Darlow won March’s Player of the Month during his current loan spell at Hull City and recently talked up the importance of playing regularly at this stage of his career, so I’d expect him to depart.
