Howe asked ‘what happened’ after 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa – Watch post-match interview here

Eddie Howe believes we were “off it in every discipline of the game” in today’s 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

The boss feels the performance was “very unlike us” and hopes it focuses the players to get back to what we do best ahead of next Sunday’s massive clash with Spurs.

Howe vows the analyse what went wrong, but insists we must “move on very quickly” and focus on the huge games to come; suggesting he won’t overreact after a run of five-straight wins was followed by a day to forget in all departments.

It really was an out of character display. We boast the best defensive record in the league and are rarely outrun, yet we were all over the shop defensively – it could’ve been four or five on another day – and failed to match Villa’s intensity.

Here’s what Howe had to say when BT Sports’ Des Kelly asked ‘what happened’ following just our fourth defeat of the season:

  1. Could and should have been 6….
Villa by far the better side, and all credit to them.
They were superb and we were just not at it at all.
Villa fans still negative chanting even when 3-0 up, what is wrong with these people.
